Work, crochet, repeat.

Well the hats at the fishing derby were a hit!!! Got many many compliments and i even got an order to make 6 of them for next year for someone. I'm very excited and honored that someone asked me, a complete stranger to do something like that :D

My hyrule blanket is seeming to be more complicated than i had imagined. After finishing about 1 wing i started over because I did not like the way it was looking. Now instead of working in strips(why on gods green earth why would i even attempted that? *bonks self on head*) I am working in rows Ive divided the pattern into 6 sections, im almost done with 1/4 of the blanket and a little yarn to spare. If i run any lower i will have to start taking apart the ruined section of the old hyrule blanket for yarn...must...scavenge..

This is the start of a 1up mushroom blanket I'm working on. Its going to be checkered mushrooms and rainbow colors :D

Here is what im working on as of the Hyrule blanket, its not going to be as big as i wanted it, but i will put more of a black border all the way around to make it bigger :D

Here fishy fishy fishy...

Well this was kind of a last minute project but I am helping my friend with a kids ice fishing tourney next weekend and decided that we needed something festive and fun to wear...

BEHOLD.... RAINBOWFISH
Cheap yarn, h hook and alot of thinking. I didnt have a pattern for this hat, just kinda pulled it out of my butt.

Now that I've made one it should be a lot quicker to whip up another one. I did it today while we were all watching the superbowl.. I think i use the superbowl as an excuse to drink and throw a party anyways.

Baby its cold outside...

So yeah, its fricken cold. -23 with the wind chill. Normally I wouldn't complain about how cold it is because well I choose to live here and I'm used to the cold, But in ND there are no damn trees... So you get snow drifts.

I recently discovered "Salon Effects" for nails, its like a strip of funky nail polish you put on your nail, and file down. THEY ARE AWESOME! Pink camo...I think yes.

The only thing about them is I'm afraid I'm wearing away my index finger nails from rubbing them on yarn all day.

I went to hobby lobby to look at a double ended crochet hook so I can Tunisian crochet (afghan crochet) a requested hat. Every time i go there to get it they don't have any more left! I plan on crocheting a pac-man into the hat and like using Tunisian crochet for designs. They come out crystal clear!

I made this Link panel a few months ago out of boredom. Its pretty big and I'm not quite sure what to do with it. I made a purse out of a shyguy panel, but that took forever.

Well I think that is enough crap to read for one day. :D

Mittens!!

So I have finally mastered my fingerless mitten pattern. After much crocheting and unraveling it is complete!

These were made with an H hook with Red Heart Super Saver Bon-Bon yarn. Double crochet in the round with fpdc&bpdc for the cuff.

Just a view of what they look like on!

Shortly after I posted these on my facebook, I got numerous requests for them! I never thought they would be so popular.

These green ones are a request from someone. I whipped them up in about 3 hours.

So I guess my interest has gone from hats to mittens. I already have 3 orders of them to do. I'm selling them for $10 a pair. I should make hats that match...hmmm.. but I will leave that for another day.

My first blog..

How exciting my first post! umm...uhh...hmmm... Well where do I start? I crochet. This is my adventure through the wild and wonderful world of yarn... oh yarn.. how I love you.

I feel I have an unhealthy addiction to crocheting. If I don't complete a project I get the shakes... Must...complete....project *eyes glaze over* I get into this groove and everything else goes black, my hands are in a rhythm and my arms go on auto mode.

This is one of the hats I completed yesterday. It was made with Loops & Threads Charisma Yarn in Dark Green. I used an N hook and made a chain until it wrapped nicely around my head. I double crocheted to build it up, then dec for a few rows and finished with half double crochet with dec.
The bow is just a chain of 16, built up, tied in the middle and stitched to the hat. It fits nicely!

I got the pattern for this one off of ravelry. Its called the Durango Hat. It consists of double crochet in the round with front post double crochet to make the ribbing. I added about 5 rows of grey (the pattern only calls for 3) because it was still a bit short. I lengthened it so it fits nicely over the ears and on the forehead. I love buttons... I want to put them on everything.
Well that is everything for today. I hopefully will finish some more fingerless gloves tonight :D
